Day 58 -Spiritual Amnesia

There was this monk who lived in the 1600's, named Brother Laurence. His job in the monastery was to wash the pots and pans: a relatively thankless job. He wrote a book called Practicing the Presence of God. He believed for him to live his life he needed to be continuously connected to God, to be always aware of God in his life. He developed various ways to get connected and to stay connected to God. Reading the Bible, reflecting and posting to this blog is one way we can get connected and stay connected to God. If we can do this spiritual amnesia will be less of a problem.

We also need to remember. That's why we have communion once a month. (Some do it every week or even every day) As we go thru the confession and the passing the peace, the time of reflection, we can re-connect to God, recognize anew our need for God, remember all that God has done for us. The patriarchs used to construct altars, piles of stones at places where signifcant events occurred. I was touched by the testimonies, this week of how God saved and has changed us. Though the events happened awhile ago, the stories had a strong sense of reality, and an immediacy that i recognized. As we share our stories in this blog, we will remind ourselves and our brothers and sisters of the reality of God, and the difference God makes in our lives. This will be a big source of strength and encouragement.

  1. mark!!! i also have been thinking about how this blog has been connecting us with each other and God. Although right now I am miles away from each person in fellowship, I feel like I am actually having a conversation with each one of the people who has post a post. Plus, this is not a normal conversation i would have at church. At church, we don't talk about ourselves in this kind of way. As i have been reading this blog and all the stories and thoughts of different people, I am getting to know deeper about you guys. There is no limit to how much thoughts we can have because we are always constantly thinking and being influenced by other thoughts/people. That is why I am always so anxious for someone to post something. I always refresh this page like every half hour, just to see if there is any updates haha yeah i am not lying. I just love reading you guy's thoughts.....it makes me stronger because i lack knowledge in the Bible. Some of you guy's thoughts are based on what you read in the Bible, so by reading your thoughts, I am able to learn about God through the Bible through you guy's typing . I know that this is no replacement to actually reading the Bible. But through this blog, i am able to learn from you guys.....which is another source to being stronger. This blog is nothing without you guys....you guys deserve an applause *clap clap*. Seriously I am happy that you guys are posting and it will be nice for others to post too...but for now i am happy. Thank you mark for pointing it out.
