Day 56 - Exodus 12:31-42, What's clouding your view of God's plan for you?
Wanted to follow up on one of Tim's comment regarding "What is God's will?". In the limited time/space here, I read a good explanation of it in a book called "Experiencing God" by Henry Blackaby years ago. The premise of Blackaby's explanation is probably best explained by the verse that comes after the most commonly quoted verse in the Bible (John 3:16). In John 3:17, it says "For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him". At this very moment, as I'm finishing up my $5 foot long from Subway, God is actively working on one specific project (and has been since the fall of Adam and Eve I think). While you're eating, sleeping, brushing your teeth, chatting with friends, or just doing nothing, God is actively doing things with one sole purpose in mind...to SAVE THE WORLD. Just imagine God is using all his resources on that master plan. The one thing God does not do though, is manipulate man so that each part of the plan would work perfectly. Instead, God gives man choices. The one big thing I learn from reading "Experiencing God" is that Christians often ask the wrong question. They ask "what is God's will for MY life?". Do you see the focus of that question...it's ME, it's not HIM. A better way of asking, when it comes to "will" or "purpose", would be "what part can I play in God's will". Via John 3:17, it should be clear that God has one sole purpose today...that is, to save the lost. If we adopt that purpose as the primary purpose of our lives, we should receive a much clearer picture in terms of direction in life. Instead of focusing on ourselves (which is pretty much the beginning of everything that can go wrong), we need to once again cast our eyes upwards...first to the Cross, and then to our heavenly Father. Back to the question of this devo...what's clouding my view of God's plan for me...that would have to be everyday things...for me, it's making ends meet (i.e. paying for all the bills, etc.). I know the purpose God has given me in life. I believe that I'm generally headed in that direction...but a major obstacle right now is taking care of financial stuff that I've incurred due to frivolous spending that date all the way back to the college years. So I guess for me, it's not so much a "cloud"...as the destination point has been revealed to me by God. Rather than "clouds", there are roadblocks or obstacles that are slowing me from getting there. I do not doubt God as my provider. Rather, I need to do my part...take concrete and applicable steps towards the goal. With God''s help and personal discipline/diligence, I can reach my destination...and you can too.

thanks for your follow-up dom. you're totally right, we should be asking God how we can be used for His plan, not how He's going to be working for OUR plans.
