The hardest thing for me to do is to share Christ to my friends and to other people. In my head I just dont know how to tell them. Im scared of what they would think. As a youth leader, I went through all the training on what to share (i.e. the four spiritual laws, romans road, ect..) But when I actually get to the task on hand, I get scared. Its really hard to share Christ. Our great commission is to make disciples of ALL nations. Not just San Francisco, or Daly City, Not even just California, but to the world!
Now on the flip side. When people ask us if we are Christians, we shouldnt be scared. We should stand up for what we believe in. I was reading a book the other day. It had to do with Columbine High School (Not sure how many of you remember that but it was a school shooting back in 2001 I believe) and there was this story about a girl. And she was a Christian. The shooter walked up to her, aimed his gun and asked her "Are you a Christian?" and she said "Yes", the shooter shot her. He shot her because she was a Christian. That touched me, not the shooting part but the part where she said yes. She could have said no and had a possibility of living. But she didnt care. She just said yes. She was a martyr for God. A person who dies for their faith. How many of us would do this. Its so easy to say we would, but when the time actually comes would we stand up for what we believe in. Im not saying anyone is going to have a gun to your head but what if your friend asked.
Sorry for moving away from the topic lol. I was reading that and really wanted to share that with you guys! =)
=D
ReplyDeleteThank you for the post. I understand what you mean for I too have that same fear and yet that fear is justified with so many reasons. Although it is normal to fear this kind of situation, I should not use that as an excuse. The whole "it is normal to watch from the sidelines because everyone else is doing it" kind of thing should not be an excuse at all. Yeah it is easier said than done. =P
I remember watching a documentary in history class that discussed a bit about the Columbine High School incident. The film was basically trying to compare and contrast America to Canada. One thing I learned was that the crime rate is lower in that country and that people don't lock their doors......yeah totally different from here.....I wonder what makes the difference. Why is there such a difference between these two countries? I think I have some ideas, but not really a certain one.......
wow huge tangent, anyways my point is that I never knew what caused the shooting. The documentary mentioned nothing about that, unless I forgot that part. Hmm.....but yeah thank you for sharing the "wow" story that might have never guessed unless you told us. thanks Daniel XD
Hi Daniel/Michelle,
ReplyDeleteOne of my favorite Christian artists, Michael W. Smith, wrote a song about the girl you're talking about:

It was actually 10 years ago on April 20th that this happened...so they remembered the 10th anniversary recently.
