Day 80-Loving God?

The question challenged us to love God despite our feelings. This is a good reminder. We often tend to be confused about love. We often believe it is a feeling. In the Bible love is most often a verb, it's an action. Feelings come and go depending on circumstances, moods, glandular activity. But love in the Biblical sense is an act of will, a decision to seek the welfare of another, to benefit another. Emotions are gifts from God. But they can get out of whack very easily, and they were not intended to be the sole basis of how we decide to act and behave. We should act on the basis of truth from the Bible and wisdom from the Holy Spirit and Godly friends. Saying, " I don't feel like it" is not a legitimate excuse to disobey God or act unwisely.
