Monday, 1/12/09, Day 61, What would some of the Ten Commandments say if worded positively (reading, "You shall..." rather than, "You shall not...")?
Wow... this one made me feel weird because thinking of the Commandments and changing them to "You shall..." was weird. I even read it out loud and I felt weird too, and I know God would hear and see everything I said yesterday, and I was thinking, "This is so weird, I'm not used to saying it like this or seeing it like that." And those are the rules that God imposed on us to follow and changing it just sounds completely far fetched to me. When I read out loud, "You shall not murder" but changing it by leaving out the "not" was like weird for me, I even hesitated to read it out loud, and I knew that people shouldn't murder, and I guess that's why it felt so weird to say it. Well I think this opened my eyes to not change the rules that God has given us or any other person who has higher authority than me, yup, that's all that came to mind, I wish I had more.

Hi, Mayen! I really like your conclusion. Sort of reminds us that we have an inborn morality that could have only been placed there by God Himself.
ReplyDeleteI think, in this exercise, the idea was to re-word each of the commandments using positives. So, instead of "You shall not murder," it could be "You shall uphold life," or something like that. At least, that's what we came up with last night.
