Day 71-Responsibilities

In the Old Testament there were three big positions or offices: prophet, priest, and king. In these stories we meet two of them: Moses the Prophet, Aaron the priest. Moses is somewhat unique, because God entrusted the Law to him. The classic definition of priests are that they represent God to the people and present the people to God. So they are an intermediary between God and the people. So it is necessary to be connected to both God and the people. They need to be able to hear clearly from God. They have to be on good terms with God, so that they are fit for the job. They also have to be very obedient and pass on only what God wants, not what they want. They also must be on very good terms with the people so that God's message will be accepted. They also must be able to tell God what is going on with the people and intercede for them. This story is interesting. Usually Moses defended the people to God. Often when God was angry with the people, Moses would ask God to forbear His wrath and give the people a second chance. This time it's Moses who is fed up. Again most of you bloggers are leaders. We can learn a lot about leadership by reading and reflecting on these stories.
