God getting our attention

I believe God calls each us at various times. Perhaps not as dramatic as Moses or for as big a job like Moses, but God does call. Elizabeth Barrett Browning wrote: “Earth’s crammed with heaven, each common bush aflame with God. Yet only he who sees takes off his shoes. The rest set around and pick blackberries.” This line of poetry is referencing this story. Her point is God is always communicating with us, as He did Moses. God has all kind of tasks for us big or small: Say hi to so and so, volunteer for thus and such. As we get closer to God, we can begin to hear God's voice more clearly. As we make time to meet God, as we deliberately put aside the distractions, we will begin to see "each common bush aflame with God." We will realize how often we are standing on "Holy Ground." If there is a need that you see that you can do something about, consider it a call from God. If you feel an internal urging to do something loving, kind, take it as a message from God.
