the commentary pointed out that God basically showed that He is above EVERYTHING that the Egyptians trusted. man, that's so cool... leads me to think about how He is bigger and stronger than every idol we have in OUR own lives. the Egyptians turn to their sun god Ra for light. sometimes i turn to my intellect, or musical ability, or personality, or friends, for security. but God is so much bigger than those other things that (like michelle said) are so transient and temporary. in the presence of an almighty everlasting God, i mean seriously, who can stand? what can stand? nothing.
THAT, and my family discussed how almost everything in society is a distraction from God. internet, television, school, friends, etc. if God were really to do similar to what He did in Egypt, wow, the world would be in for some BIG changes. and as i'm typing, i'm thinking about this economic recession. is God any less God? pssh, yeah right! maybe its Him trying to get our attention somehow... let's pray for this recession, that people will turn to Him like in Egypt.
we worship a truly amazing God.. i can't even wrap my mind around how 1) powerful our God is, 2) intricate the Bible's details are with its ability to apply directly to our lives, 3) that such a God would be mindful of such a nobody like me. like us. wOOt our powerful/omnipotent/loving God!

hey tim!! i totally agree with you on how there are so many distractions in our society. what really opened my eyes was how you used the example of our economy recession. i liked how these two experiences (egypt and america) are similar, yet really different. thanks for pointing it out XD
