1/4/09, Day 53 - Exodus 9:8-35

When have you sensed God's power through nature?

Usually when we think of "God's power through nature," we think of lightning and thunder, and storms of all kinds, like fire, wind, hail, etc. Sometimes, like Pharoah, we get a front row seat to some pretty awesome sights that remind us we are not alone, we are not in control. God is. Yet, like Pharoah, I've been stubborn, even after having experienced God's power.

Most of us have seen God's miracles and not recognized them for what they are. Sometimes, we don't need the lightning and thunder. Sometimes, God's power is in the common, everyday things. This really hit home for me shortly after my first child was born. Just in examining his perfect little baby hand, and comparing it to my own, I saw God's power in the miracle of life. Everything worked together to form those tiny fingers, the skin that held all the tiny bones, muscles, and tissues, and so on. My mind couldn't even comprehend the awesomeness of what it would take to make every part of my child function perfectly, way down to the mitochondria. God created... that's power. That's God's power, also by design. Guess I'm not so much like Pharoah after all. =)

  1. hey auntie jenn....haha i remember you telling me this story awhile back. I guess it is really funny to me because now i see your son all grown up. It is pretty hard to imagine that he was that small. when you told me that story, i kept staring at my own hand. I looked at the details and there were so many. I never really thought of the work put into me. thank you for sharing your story XD
